About Us and our Airbnb

An Asheville History

I grew up here at Seven Oaks and have lived my entire life in Asheville. Being able to renovate and now offer my historic memory-filled home to Airbnb visitors, gives me a renewed sense of spirit. Our home gets 5 star reviews and tops lists of Asheville NC Vacation Rentals by Owner.

Breathing life back in to what began as a three room cabin built in 1900, has been a journey that you will now share in. Thank you for choosing to stay on this storied mountainside, rich with history of Cherokee tribes, early colonists and much more.

Seven Oaks has also been a foundation to the Arabian horse community for over 40 years, raising several national champions and breeding over 200 horses during that time.

Enjoy your days here surrounded by nature, having all the comforts of home, and yet being just a few miles from downtown Asheville.

A Timeline

Seven Oaks Asheville

Early Settlers: Peril & Peace on the Frontier

The mountain where Seven Oaks sits was home to Cherokees who defended the land from early settlers. Battles and loss ensued for both the natives and colonists – this included Asheville “founding father” Colonel Samual Davidson, who met his death in 1784 on the mountainside we now call Seven Oaks.

A Log Cabin on Jones Mountain

The land here and around us grew with settlements and commerce as time passed. Over 100 years later in 1900, on the tract of land where Seven Oaks Asheville sits, a log cabin was built. Perched above the Swannanoa Valley, the beginnings of our home took root.

The Fender Family Equestrian Homestead

As 1969 arrived, my parents Charles and Pauline Fender purchased the home and the 13 acres of land around it. The cabin-home had been expanded and dad updated and built it out even more. Horse barns, an equestrian arena and pastures were also added to the property and “Seven Oaks Arabians” was born.

I grew up here and enjoyed a unique early life on this beautiful countryside. When mom, and then dad eventually passed away, I decided to renew the essence of the very place I called home. I personally did a complete renovation of the house through 2020 and opened the ultimate Airbnb in Fall 2020. Welcome to Seven Oaks Asheville!
